Frequently Asked Questions

Booking

How do I book a photoshoot?

Booking your family, maternity, newborn or couples photoshoot is simple.

Start by filling out my contact form with a few details about the type of session you're looking for, your preferred date, and where you'd like your photos taken. Whether you're dreaming of an outdoor golden-hour session, a cosy in-home newborn shoot, or a relaxed family adventure, I'd love to hear your ideas.

Once we've chosen a date and planned your session, I'll send you an invoice. Your booking is officially confirmed as soon as payment has been received.

If you're unsure about the best location, time of day, or package, I'm happy to guide you through every step so your experience feels relaxed and stress-free.

When should I book my family, maternity, newborn or couples photoshoot?

I recommend booking your photoshoot 1–2 months in advance, especially if you'd like a weekend or sunset (golden hour) session, as these dates tend to fill up first. Occasionally, last-minute availability opens up due to rescheduled bookings, so it's always worth getting in touch, even if your preferred date is close.

MATERNITY PHOTOGRAPHY:

The best time for maternity photos is usually between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy. During this stage, your bump is beautifully visible while you're often still comfortable enough to enjoy the session. If you're feeling well, maternity sessions can also be done later in your pregnancy.

NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY:

Newborn sessions are booked around your due date rather than your baby's birthday. The ideal time to photograph your newborn is within the first 10 days after birth, with around day 3 often being perfect for those sleepy, curled-up poses.

Of course, babies have their own plans. They may arrive earlier or later than expected, and birth doesn't always go as planned. If you or your baby need extra time before your session, that's completely fine. I intentionally leave flexibility in my calendar for newborn families, so we can easily adjust your session date if needed.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. A photography gift voucher is a thoughtful gift for growing families, expecting parents, birthdays, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas or any special occasion.

Gift vouchers can be used towards any of my photography sessions, including family, maternity, newborn, couples and children’s birthday photoshoots. They can also be personalised with the recipient’s name and a message if you’d like to make it extra special.

If you’re looking for a meaningful gift that creates lasting memories, I’d be happy to help you choose the right voucher.

Location

Where are you based, and do you travel?

I’m a family photographer based in Woerden, in the heart of the Netherlands, and I photograph families throughout Utrecht, Amsterdam and across the country.

Many of my sessions take place in beautiful outdoor locations such as forests, beaches, parks and historic towns, but I’m always happy to suggest a location that suits your family.

There are no travel fees for sessions in Woerden.

For locations outside Woerden, a travel fee of €0.50 per kilometre applies.

Planning a destination session, wedding or elopement elsewhere in Europe? I’d love to hear your ideas. Just get in touch for a personalised quote.

Can you recommend photoshoot locations?

Absolutely.

Whether you’re looking for a beach, forest, flower field, sand dunes, castle or city centre, I can recommend locations that suit your family and the season.

I carefully choose places with beautiful light, plenty of space for children to explore and backgrounds that keep the focus on your family.

If you already have a location in mind, I'm always happy to photograph your session there. And if you're looking for something unique that I haven't used before, I'll happily scout the perfect location for your family, maternity, newborn, or couples photoshoot.

During the Session

What happens if it rains?

Dutch weather can be unpredictable.

If heavy rain or strong winds are forecast, we’ll simply reschedule your outdoor session at no extra cost.

If the weather is only slightly cloudy, we usually continue, as cloudy skies often create beautiful soft light for photography.

How long does a family photoshoot take?

Most family sessions last around 45 minutes.

This gives us plenty of time without children becoming tired or losing interest.

The focus is always on creating a relaxed experience rather than rushing through a long list of posed photographs.

What if my children don’t cooperate?

Please don’t worry.

Children don’t need to sit still or smile at the camera for beautiful photographs. My sessions are relaxed and child-led. We play games, explore, cuddle, run, laugh and simply spend time together.

Some of the most meaningful photographs happen when children are simply being themselves.

Clothing

What should we wear for our family photoshoot?

The most beautiful family photos happen when everyone's outfits complement each other instead of matching exactly.

Rather than dressing everyone in the same outfit, such as blue jeans and white T-shirts, choose colours that work well together while still letting each person's personality shine through.

Start with two or three main colours and mix different shades and textures. Soft beige, olive green, cream, dusty blue, rust and warm brown all photograph beautifully. Adding layers such as knitwear, linen, dresses, cardigans or textured fabrics creates depth and gives your photos a timeless, natural look.

Try to avoid bright neon colours, large logos, busy prints or clothing with characters, as these can distract from the connection between your family.

The goal is to look coordinated rather than identical, creating a relaxed and timeless look that keeps the focus on your family.

If you're not sure what to wear, don't worry. I'm always happy to help you choose the right outfits or create a colour palette that works beautifully for your family, maternity, newborn or couples photoshoot. Together, we'll make sure everyone looks and feels their best while creating a cohesive look that photographs beautifully.

The Photos

When will we receive our photos?

You'll receive your online gallery within 2 - 3 weeks of your photoshoot.

Before you see your gallery, I carefully edit every image from your session. Your photos will be presented in a private online gallery with a watermark, where you can take your time browsing through them and choose your favorites.

Once you've made your selection, I'll send you your chosen images in high resolution, without watermarks, ready to print, share and enjoy.

Can we buy more photos afterwards?

Absolutely!

Once you've seen your online gallery, you might decide you'd like a few more photos than your package includes. If that's the case, you can easily purchase additional images or upgrade to your full gallery.

Do you edit every photo?

Yes.

Every photo you receive is individually hand edited. I don't use one-click filters or outsource my editing, so each image receives the attention it deserves.

Privacy

Will my photos be shared online?

I love sharing my work because it helps future families see what a real session looks like.

That said, I completely respect your privacy.

If you'd prefer your photographs not to be shared, or if you'd like your children's faces to remain private on social media, just let me know before your session. I can avoid sharing your photos altogether or only share images where your children's faces aren't visible.

I'm always happy to accommodate your wishes.

Other Questions

Yes. Including grandparents can make your session even more meaningful.

If you’re planning a larger family session, let me know beforehand so we can choose the best package and location.

Can we bring our dog?

Absolutely. Dogs are part of the family too.

Just let me know beforehand so we can choose a pet-friendly location.

Do you photograph newborns at home?

Yes.

All of my newborn sessions take place in the comfort of your own home.

There’s no need to tidy every corner or have a perfectly styled house. I work with the light and the spaces you already have to create relaxed, natural photographs of your family’s first days together.

Do you photograph weddings and elopements?

Absolutely!

I photograph weddings and elopements throughout the year, alongside my family, maternity, newborn and couples sessions.

If you're planning your wedding or elopement, I'd love to hear more about your day. Send me a message and I'll happily send you my wedding packages, pricing and availability.

Do you also photograph businesses and events?

I also photograph businesses, personal brands and events.

If you're looking for professional photography for your business, team or event, feel free to get in touch. Tell me a little about what you have in mind, and I'll send you my packages, pricing and availability.

Do you speak English?

Yes. I’m fluent in English, Afrikaans and Dutch.

Many of my clients are international families, expats and visitors to the Netherlands who feel more comfortable speaking English during their session.

Clear communication helps everyone relax, especially children, and ensures your photoshoot feels natural and enjoyable.
